SBS 측은 11일 복수의 매체를 통해 “늦은 시간 급하게 특보를 준비하면서 영상 검수 과정에 소홀함이 있었던 것 같다”면서 “문제를 인지하고 해당 영상을 내렸으며, 보도국 차원에서 관련자에게 엄중조치를 내렸다”고 밝혔다.

하지만 해당 영상 속 자료 화면에 쓰인 한 누리꾼의 댓글로 인해 논란에 휩싸였다. ‘노벨병화상과 비교불가...문학의 최고존엄 짱!’이라는 2000년 고(故) 김대중 전 대통령의 노벨 평화상 수상을 비하하는 댓글을 그대로 송출한 것. 논란이 커지자 SBS는 해당 영상을 곧장 비공개 처리했다.
