김동연 경기도지사는 인도의 자와할랄 네루 대학교 한국어학과의 공식 요청으로 10월 8일부터 10일까지 한국어학과에서 주최하는 2024년 한글날 행사에 영상축사를 보내 한글을 사랑하는 학생들과 참석자들을 격려하고 행사물품 등을 지원했다.

김동연 지사는 영상축사에서 “저는 작년 인도를 방문했을 때 네루대에 간 적이 있다. 네루대 학생식당에서 학생들과 대화를 나누며 네루대와의 협력관계를 생각한 적이 있어 더욱 반갑다”고 말했다.

이어 ‘한글을 품은 도시, 여주’와 ‘평화와 자연의 상징, 파주’ 등 경기도 명소를 소개하며 “경기도는 대한민국을 대표하는 기회수도이고 인도는 무한한 가능성의 나라, 기회의 땅이다. 기회의 땅 인도 청년들과 기회수도 경기도의 특별한 만남을 기다린다. 대한민국의 모든 매력이 있는 경기도로 꼭 오시기 바란다”고 덧붙였다.
