2020년 3월 이후 4년 6개월 만에 금리 인하다. 이로 인해 미국의 기존 금리는 5.25∼5.50%에서 4.75∼5.0%로 0.5%p 낮아졌다.

한국(3.5%)과의 금리 격차도 최대 2%p에서 1.5%p로 줄어들었다.

연준은 금리 발표 후 성명을 통해 “인플레이션이 2%를 향해 꾸준히 움직이고 있다는 확신을 얻었다”며 “고용과 인플레이션 목표 달성에 관한 리스크도 균형을 이루고 있다고 판단했다”고 설명했다.
