러시아에서 나타난 반전 시위는 OVD-info가 배후인 것으로 알려졌다. 보리스 넴초프는 친(親) 우크라이나 성향의 정치인이다. 게다가 반러 성향의 우크라이나 정치인인 율리야 티모센코(Юлия Тимошенко)와도 아주 각별한 사이였다. 그리고 친(親) 서방주의자이기도 했고 2014년 부리스마 홀딩스 이사로 재직한 헌터 바이든과도 친분관계를 유지했다. 반 푸틴 세력들의 중심인 인민자유당은 블라디미르 밀로프(Владимир Милов), 미하일 카시야노프(Михаил Касьянов)와 더불어 퇴진한 미하일 고르바초프도 영입하려 했다. 고르바초프는 퇴임 후, 루이 비통, 피자헛 등 서방 외국 기업의 CF에 출연하여 생활비를 벌었고 1993년 4월 1일에 드미트리 무라토프 등 진보성향 언론인들에게도 자금을 후원하여 러시아 반 체제 언론인 노바야 가제타(Новая Газета)를 창간하기도 했다. 그가 사망하기 전까지 최근까지도 고르바초프는 노바야 가제타의 지분을 10% 갖고 있다고 한다.
