계명대서 5일 간 '대구2024세계대학태권도 페스티벌' 열려

【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구2024세계대학태권도 페스티벌이 오는 5일부터 9일까지 계명대 성서캠퍼스 체육관에서 개최된다.

세계대학태권도 페스티벌은 올림픽 랭킹포인트를 받을 수 있는 GI 등급 대회로 국제대학스포츠연맹이 인증하고 세계태권도연맹이 승인했다.

이번 대회에는 미국, 캐나다, 사우디아라비아, 시리아, 인도, 중국, 일본, 네팔, 브라질 등 약 56개국에서 1,000여 명의 선수단 및 지도자들과 700여명의 관계자들이 참가할 예정이다.

개막식은 5일 오후 5시 계명대 성서캠퍼스 체육관에서 개최되며 조직위원장인 신일희 계명대 총장과 레온즈 에데르(Leonz Eder, 스위스) 국제대학스포츠연맹(FISU)회장, 에릭 새으롱(Eric Saintrond, 벨기에) 국제대학스포츠연맹 사무총장, 조정원 세계태권도연맹 총재, 서정강 세계태권도연맹 사무총장, 강은희 대구광역시교육감 등이 참석한다.

한편 대구 경북지역에서 유일하게 태권도학과와 태권도센터를 보유한 계명대는 각국의 올림픽 국가대표 선수들 전지훈련 장소로 활용될 정도로 인프라를 잘 갖추고 있어 이번 대회 개최지로 선정됐다.
