추석 명절 5년간 지능범죄 3배↑..검거율 절반 수준

브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 최근 5년간 추석 명절기간 지능범죄 3배 증가했으나, 검거율은 절반 수준에 그친 것으로 나타났다.

국민의힘 정희용 의원이 경찰청으로부터 제출받은 자료에 따르면, 최근 5년간 추석 명절 기간 스미싱, 사기, 위조, 횡령처럼 범인이 지적 능력을 이용해 저지르는 지능범죄의 발생 건수는 총 3275건이었으며, 검거율은 약 56%였다.

연도별로 살펴보면 △2019년 395건 △2020년 533건 △2021년 649건 △2022년 573건 △2023년 1125건으로 5년 사이 약 2.8배 증가했다.

같은 기간 △강력범죄 약 1.4배 △절도범죄 약 1.7배 △폭력범죄 약 1.2배 △기타범죄 약 1.2배 증가한 것에 비해 매우 가파른 증가폭이다.

2022년 104%의 검거율을 보인 것을 제외하고는 △2019년 51.1% △2020년 41.5% △2021년 41% △2023년 48.3%로 대부분 절반 수준에 머무르는 것으로 분석됐다.

특히, 지능범죄 중 문자메시지로 인터넷주소 등을 전송해 금융 사기 등을 벌이는 ‘스미싱’ 범죄의 경우에는 최근 5년간 총 465건이 발생했다.

연도별로 살펴보면 △2019년 13건 △2020년 95건 △2021년 140건 △2022년 52건 △2023년 165건으로 5년 사이 약 13배가 늘어났다.

검거는 49건에 불과해 검거율은 10.5%에 그쳤다. 범죄 10건 중 1건 정도만 검거됐다는 것이다. 2023년 추석에는 검거율 6.1%로 한 자리수를 기록하기도 했다.

이에 대해 정 의원은 “추석과 같은 명절기간에는 지인·가족 간 안부 문자메시지를 주고 받는 경우가 많아 문자메시지에 대한 경계심이 낮아진다”며 “누구나 스미싱 피해의 대상이 될 수 있다는 점에서 각별한 주의가 필요하고 예방이 중요하다”고 말했다.
