브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 자영업자 비중이 통계 작성 이후 지속적으로 감소한 가운데, 고령층 자영업자의 비율은 오히려 증가한 것으로 나타났다.
국민의힘 김소희 의원이 분석한 통계청 마이크로데이터 자료에 따르면 전체 취업자 중 자영업자가 차지하는 비중이 올해 6월 19.7%를 기록하며 통계 작성 이후 처음 20% 아래로 떨어졌다.
반면, 전체 자영업자 내 60세 이상 고령층의 비율은 2000년 대비 2024년 6월 37.3%로 2배 이상 증가했다.
우리나라는 OECD 국가 중 자영업자 비율이 높은 편이지만 해마다 감소하고 있는 반면, 고령층의 자영업자 비율은 오히려 급격히 증가하는 추세다.
퇴직 후 생계를 이어가기 위해 자영업에 뛰어든 고령층이 그만큼 많은 것이다. 이러한 현상은 초고령화 사회 진입과 맞물리며 더욱 심화될 것으로 보인다.

주목할 것은 자영업자 내 연령대별 비율 추이다 . 20대 이하는 2000년 6.2%, 2010년 3.5%, 2020년 3.4%, 2024년 6월 3.4%, 같은 기간 30대는 25.5%, 16.1%, 12.8%, 11.6%, 40대는 31.5%, 29.9%, 20.5%, 20.3%로 지속적으로 줄어들었다.
