SNS에 분노를 토하는 사람들을 보고 이런 자들이 왜 생길까?

유럽도 아니고 정많고 친절한 우리 대한민국에 신(新) 인종 혐오주의자(New Racister)들이 등장한 것은 충격적인 것이 아니라 이미 예정되어 있었다고 나는 본다. 사회적 양극화(Social polarization) 현상에서 흔히 나타나는 것이 소득 불균형(Income imbalance)과 그 모든 것의 원인이 내가 아닌 남에게서 시작되는 피해 의식이 자라나는 것은 당연한 일이다.

자신이 이렇게 된 것의 원인을 남에게서 찾으니 책임도 남이 져야 한다는 것이다. 2차 세계 대전 전에 1차 세계 대전의 패전 여파로 독일이 엄청난 양극화와 사회문제에 어려움을 겪었을 때 그 모든 원인은 유태인을 비롯한 이방인들에게 돌아갔다. 나치의 인종혐오 범죄는 극단적인 사회적 양극화의 양분을 충분히 흡수하며 자란 것이다.

대한민국도 현재 소득불균형, 사회적 계층의 붕괴, 잘못된 페미니즘의 확산, 공정성 상실, 사회 책임 의식의 부재, 지연학연혈연의 인맥 우선주의 등 심각한 양극화에 시달리고 있다. 그런 가운데 양극화에서 소외되는 계층들은 사회적 불만의 씨앗을 먹고 자란다.

거기에 물을 대주는 자들은 언론, 이데올로기를 확산시키는 정치인들, 사회적 양극화가 지속되어야 먹고 사는 기업인 오너들이다. 신(新) 인종 혐오주의자(New Racister)들이 득세하는 것은 심각한 양극화 사이에 비집고 헤어 나온 잡초와 같이 국내 사회의 모순점을 대표하는 모습이라 볼 수 있다.

아래 사진과 같은 신(新) 인종 혐오주의자(New Racister)들은 결코 몇몇 사람들이 개인적으로 활동하며 글을 올리지 않는다. 저들은 매우 조직적이며 치밀한 네트워크를 가지고 있다. 외국인이야기, 중동이나 동남아, 중앙아시아 등과 우리와 관련된 뉴스 기사들이 나올 때마다 댓글에 신(新) 인종 혐오주의자(New Racister)들은 어김없이 등장한다.

인터넷 댓글에 저런 식으로 욕을 하고 사라지는데 반박하는 댓글을 달으면 어쩌다 한 두번은 다는 경우는 봤어도 거의 대부분 재반박은 없다. 이 말은 단체로 네트워크 상에서 조직적으로 움직인다는 증거다. 그러면서 보통 인종적 혐오를 갖지 않고 있던 사람들도 분노를 유발하여 자신들에게 동조하는 현상을 만들고 그렇게 세를 확산시켜 나간다.

도끼로 열번 찍어 안 넘어가는 나무 없듯이 사람들의 습성이 자극적인 것에 신경이 집중하게 되어 있다. 언론이 기레기라 욕 처먹는 이유도 별 내용없는 자극적인 내용으로 헤드라인을 장식하기 때문이다. 자주 그런 부분을 접하다보면 잘 모르는 외국인에 대해 우선 경계를 할 수 밖에 없다. 그러다보면 나도 모르게 Anti Foreignerism 이 되는 것이다.

이유는 다른게 없다. 그저 간접적인 선동(Indirect agitation)에 놀아나는 것 뿐이다. 그런데 저런 행위들이 현지에 있는 기업인들, 일반 사업자들, 유학생들이나 교환학생들, 연구자들, 문화교류자들 등 모두에게 피해를 줄 수 있다는 것. 그런 것에는 아무런 관심이 없다. Anti Korean이 만들어져 폭동이 일어나 우리 국민들이 피해를 보면 저것들은 태세전환을 하게 된다.

"우리 국민들이 후진국놈들 때문에 피해를 보게 됐어. 거봐. 가까이 하지 말랬잔아. 선진국과 놀아야한다." 라고 말이다. 그런데 선진국들이 자기들이 아쉬운게 없는데 영토도 손톱만하고 자원도 별볼일 없는 왜 우리와 놀아주나?.. 신(新) 인종혐오주의자(New Racister)들의 문제는 그 플렌이 여기까지라는 것이다. 그들은 나치처럼 국가주의자, 민족주의자들도 아니다.

자신들이 갖고 있는 한(限)을 풀러 나오는 것이다. 자신들이 갖고 있는 피해의식, 세상에 대한 비뚤어진 욕망과 불만, 그걸 들어주지 않는 사회에 대한 불만, 그로 인해 인터넷이라 매개체를 두고 자행된 분풀이, 그로 인해 유명해지길 원하는 관심 종자들인 것. 그 이상 그 이하도 아니다. 저런 자들을 어떻게 처리하고 치유할, 저런 불만을 들어줄 수 있는 사회적 시스템, 극단적인 사회적 양극화를 해소햐는 사회적 노력 등이 수반되는 것 외에는 방법이 없을듯 싶다.

Why do people like this exist when they vent their anger on SNS?

I think that the emergence of new racists in our warm and friendly Republic of Korea, not in Europe, is not shocking but was already expected. It is natural that income imbalance, which is a common phenomenon in social polarization, and the victim mentality that the cause of all this starts from others, not me, grow.

Since they look for the cause of their own situation in others, they think that others should also take responsibility. Before World War II, when Germany suffered from extreme polarization and social problems due to its defeat in World War I, all of the causes were attributed to foreigners, including Jews. The Nazis’ hate crimes grew by sufficiently absorbing the nutrients of extreme social polarization.

South Korea is also currently suffering from serious polarization, including income inequality, the collapse of social classes, the spread of false feminism, loss of fairness, lack of social responsibility, and the prioritization of personal connections based on regional school ties. In the midst of this, the classes that are excluded from polarization are growing by feeding on the seeds of social discontent.

Those who water it are the media, politicians who spread ideology, and business owners who live off of the continued social polarization. The rise of New Racists can be seen as a representation of the contradictions of domestic society, like weeds that have emerged amidst serious polarization.

New Racists, like the ones in the photo below, are never just a few individuals who post articles. They are very organized and have a tight network. Whenever news articles about foreigners, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, etc. related to us come out, New Racists inevitably appear in the comments.

In internet comments, they curse like that and disappear, but if you post a rebuttal, there is almost always no rebuttal, although I have seen them do so once or twice. This is evidence that they are organized and moving on the network as a group. In the process, they create a phenomenon where people who normally do not have racial hatred become angry and sympathize with them, and in this way, they spread their influence.

Just as there is no tree that does not fall after ten hits with an axe, people tend to focus on provocative things. The reason the media is called trash is because they decorate headlines with provocative content that has no substance. If you come across such things often, you cannot help but be wary of foreigners you do not know well. Then, without realizing it, you become an anti-foreigner.

There is no other reason. They are just playing along with indirect agitation. However, such acts can harm local businesspeople, general business owners, international students, exchange students, researchers, cultural exchange participants, etc. They have no interest in such things. When anti-Koreans are created and riots occur and our people suffer, they change their stance.

"Our people are suffering because of the underdeveloped people. See? I told you not to get close. You should play with the developed countries." But the developed countries have nothing to be sorry about, so why are they playing with us when we have only a small territory and not much resources? The problem with the New Racists is that their plan is limited to this point. They are not nationalists or statists like the Nazis.

They are coming out to relieve the limitations they have. Their sense of victimization, their distorted desires and dissatisfaction with the world, their dissatisfaction with a society that does not listen to them, their anger venting through the Internet as a medium, and their attention-seeker wanting to become famous because of it. Nothing more, nothing less. It seems that there is no other way than to deal with and heal such people, create a social system that can listen to such complaints, and make social efforts to resolve extreme social polarization.
