윤석열 대통령, 장기표 별세 "우리 시대 진정한 귀감, 뜻 잊지 않고 기억"

윤석열 대통령이 22일 향년 78세로 별세한 재야 시민운동가 고 장기표 신문명정책연구원 원장을 애도했다.

윤 대통령은 이날 "장기표 선생은 노동·민주화운동으로 우리 시대를 지키신 진정한 귀감이셨다"며 "장기표 선생 뜻을 잊지 않고 기억하겠다"며 애도 뜻을 표했다고 정혜전 대통령실 대변인이 오후 서면브리핑에서 전했다.

그러면서 "고인 명복을 빌며 유족분들에게 심심한 위로를 전한다"고 했다.

윤 대통령은 국민의힘 대선 경선 후보 시절이던 지난 2021년 9월 같은 후보였던 장 원장과 서울 종로구 청계천 '전태일 다리(버들다리)'를 찾아 전태일 동상에 참배·헌화한 바 있다.

한평생 노동·시민 운동에 헌신했던 고 장 원장은 이날 오전 1시 35분께 입원 중이던 경기 일산 국립암센테에서 별세했다.
